Arava Institute for Environmental Studies — www.arava.orgThe Arava Institute for Environmental Studies (AIES) is a regional center for environmental leadership. By encouraging environmental cooperation between Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian and international students, the Arava Institute works toward peace and sustainable development on a regional and global scale. AIES is located on Kibbutz Ketura in Israel's Arava Valley. The Institute is home to research, study-abroad programs and a joint Ben-Gurion University master's degree in desert studies with a concentration in environmental studies. All classes are taught in English. Ben-Gurion University of the Negev — www.bgu.ac.ilThe Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) presents the most comprehensive opportunities of any Israeli academic institution to learn about the environment. BGU offers study-abroad programs and bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in many environmental subjects. The school also offers multiple environmental research centers, including the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, the National Solar Energy Center, the Newman Information Center for Desert Research and Development, and the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research. Most classes are taught in English. Porter School of Environmental Studies at Tel Aviv University — www.environment.tau.ac.ilThe Porter School offers study-abroad classes as well as undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in environmental studies. The school integrates research with policy and community projects to translate its academic work into practical applications. It promotes new areas of interdisciplinary environmental research, introduces novel environmental teaching programs and places environmental issues on the academic and public agenda. Most classes are taught in English. University of Haifa — www.haifa.ac.ilThe University of Haifa offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in natural resources and environmental management, geography and environmental studies, and evolutionary and environmental biology. The university is home to the Israel Marine Mammal Research & Assistance Center as well as the Natural Resource and Environmental Research Center. Most classes are taught in Hebrew.
